The Market

I went to Tower Grove farmers market for the first time this past weekend and I loved it. I felt so happy there. I wished Al and Beau were with me but it was during his nap so Beau had to stay home with him. The first booth I happend upon made the whole trip. It was an experience in fresh made, raw milk goat cheese and it was delicious. I cant repeat half f the names of the different kinds of cheeses, but I bought two... traditional and camember (probably spelt that wrong... I know i spelt that wrong). Then I ventured next door to the baked goods booth and picked up a couple fresh made blueberry scones (in honor of Beau, because you know how much would have been bought had he actually been there!...) This could be dangerous if he came with me because there were about 3 homemade pastry booths and one stand with made-to-order crepes. ahhh. yum.
The next thing I purchased was some collard greens which I am going to make a collard and green olive pesto with. And last, I bought some asparagus that I used in a lemon goat cheese pasta tonight, creamy goodness. I wish I could remember the names of all the farms I purchased food from because that would complete my feel good moment, but I cant. I was so happy to discover a butcher there selling sustainably raised beef and pork... my pig eating days may not be over after all (at least in the comfort of my own home).
If you havent been to a farmers market this year, I urge you to try it out. Not only are you getting the freshest food possible (aside from homegrown garden veggies), but you are helping your local farms... and what better thing could you do for your health and the health of MO small businesses?
