Family day at the Murphy's pool

Beau, Al and I met Andy, Cary and Winnie over at Andy's parents pool today and it was so much fun! The water is still a little chilly, but Al and Winnie didnt seem to mind at all... mean while it took Cary and I about 20 minutes to work ourselves all the way in. haha

Here are some pics of them (it is strange that none of these are actually taking place IN the pool, but oh well!)

Last week...

Just a few pictures of Al this past week that I thought were cute...
This was Al all dressed for Eep's wedding. He doesn't have any 12 mo. pants, so he went casual with his straight front khaki shorts.

This was at the farm... I just thought he looked so much like Beau in this picture!

So he climbed onto this empty diaper box and this was taked shortly before he slid off the back and cracked his head on the floor. Disaster... and I was just standing there taking pictures like a loving mother.

Memorial Weekend

Wow, what an eventful weekend. I have so much to say, to feel free to stop reading at anytime. I just want to make sure and document these moments so I can remember them as vividly as they happened at the time!

Saturday--- Cary, Winnie, Al and I went to the farmers market in the rain. I filled our basket with collards, dino kale, strawberries, zucchini, and another blueberry scone (which Winnie and Al polished off before I could even get a bite... the sacrifices we mothers make). I thought that trip was almost too healthy, so we balanced it off with some Dounut Drive In (might be my Saturday morning staple) and I shoved down 2 donuts before we were even to Hampton... I know, I felt pretty damn sick.

Mid afternoon Al and I went to Eep's wedding (she looked georgeous, of course) but I barely got to see her as Al is learning all about his voice and proceeded to scream just as she started downw the asile. Luckily they had a cry room that I spent the rest of the wedding in chasing Al around more than watching the ceremony... thats the way it goes these days. We call him an active child. As I walked back into the church to leave, he trew up all down my dress, splattered my right leg and covered my toes through the sandle. Awesome. Did I have a rag you might ask? NOPE. I smelt really good.

We then got in the car and I changed into some running shorts and went to see Becca and baby Luke (they were in town from NC and we have never met eachothers children!) That was fun, but we were in a small hotel room and there were 6 other people there, 4 of which dont have kids yet) and Al is just so active (I mean crazy, but I say active because it makes me feel better). It was so good to see them, but we really got minimal visiting in... I cried on the way home thinking that I was going to turn into one of those mom's who's kids are so out of control that no one wants to be around them anymore! so sad. I am over it now and I love Al for being such an explorer.

The rest of the weekend was more relaxed than Saturday, thank the Lord! We went out to the farm and spent the night on Sunday. Oh! Al took two steps, completely out of nowhere, and really he is not going to walk anytime soon, but it was crazy!

Family moment---tonight Beau and I were laying on the couch together at the farm and Gregg walked up holding Al. He saw us and wanted down on the couch. He quickly crawled over the heaping pillows to get to us and rolled over on his back and layed with us for like 10 minutes!! We have pictures, so I will post them later... I love it. I am banking that memory.

Have a good week everyone!

The Market

I went to Tower Grove farmers market for the first time this past weekend and I loved it. I felt so happy there. I wished Al and Beau were with me but it was during his nap so Beau had to stay home with him. The first booth I happend upon made the whole trip. It was an experience in fresh made, raw milk goat cheese and it was delicious. I cant repeat half f the names of the different kinds of cheeses, but I bought two... traditional and camember (probably spelt that wrong... I know i spelt that wrong). Then I ventured next door to the baked goods booth and picked up a couple fresh made blueberry scones (in honor of Beau, because you know how much would have been bought had he actually been there!...) This could be dangerous if he came with me because there were about 3 homemade pastry booths and one stand with made-to-order crepes. ahhh. yum.
The next thing I purchased was some collard greens which I am going to make a collard and green olive pesto with. And last, I bought some asparagus that I used in a lemon goat cheese pasta tonight, creamy goodness. I wish I could remember the names of all the farms I purchased food from because that would complete my feel good moment, but I cant. I was so happy to discover a butcher there selling sustainably raised beef and pork... my pig eating days may not be over after all (at least in the comfort of my own home).
If you havent been to a farmers market this year, I urge you to try it out. Not only are you getting the freshest food possible (aside from homegrown garden veggies), but you are helping your local farms... and what better thing could you do for your health and the health of MO small businesses?

New things for Al this week...

I bought these little round fruits ( I forget the name of them) that are a crss between an apricot and a plum. I thought the skins would be soft enought for Al to eat, so I set him in the high chair and put the fruit on his tray and walked away to find a knife. I looked back and he had grabbed the fruit and just started eating it! So cute... he ate the whole thing! He looks so big. Bellow...
This morning I was doing my makeup and Beau was in the shower so of course Al was crawling around the bathroom with us. He has a new fascination with the shower so he crawled right in! So hilarious, pj's and all. I didnt stop him because I thought he should know what he was getting himself into...haha.

And finally, Al went in and out of his room about 100 times tonight, going under the curtain hanging as his door. Over and over again, like he was on a mission...

I found them!!!

We went to WAve after the party... two on two sand volleyball is not pretty when you are not in the AVP

The owner of this motorcycle did come over, however he didnt seem to mind that we were on it?

We all went to Sugar Creek winery for Eeps's bachelorette party and had a blast...

Bummed

So I went to Eep's Bach party this weekend had had some awesome pictures and my computer messed up and deleted all of them!  So so so sad... help me out friends.  Email me some copies... I have to remember the biker bar!

Rollin with Tha Homeys

Caroline (Abby's 5 week old), Jack (Cuevas's 3 month old) and Al (9 months)

Abby, Cuevas and I got together last night for a play date/much needed girls night. It was an evening of mom's chatting, babies smiling, crying, screaming, nursing, sleeping, and eating... eventful! Abby bribed Al to lay still for the picture by giving him her cell phone, and it worked! I thought is was so cute how both Caroline and Al appear to be patting Jack on the head. That is much of what Al was trying to do all night; he found hard pats on the head the most appropriate thing to do to a little baby... not sure the sentiment was shared by all.
Cant wait to do it again soon!

Little Trouble Maker in Kansas City

Sometimes I just cant believe he is almost 9 months! (and then I think, wow I cant believe he is only 9 months and already standing up on his own... I am in trouble). SO, we went to visit Allie and Tanner in KC because my mom and Leah were going to be there for college visits. It worked out perfectly because Allie and her family so generously let us stay at their house while they were out of town. Tanner and Al got to play for a whole day together (more like ignore eachother and play by themselves while sitting next to eachother). Remarkably I didnt get very many pictures of the two of them together... their pose timing was all off..haha. Lee Lee liked KU, but hated KSU... whether or not we will become arch rivals remains to be seen.

Dont they look like they just got caught doing something very bad...

Here is proof that he can now pull up to a stand with out a ledge to hold on to... also, he is licking Allies front door..awesome.

This is Al in Cooper's (the dog) cage... now there is a way to keep him contained..hmmm, Puddy we may need to share your home.

Lee lee and Al sharing morning cheerios...he loves his aunt, she lets him pull her hair and everything!

So now it is back to work. Writing a very large USDA grant and hoping to take a breath soon!
