Poison

No, this is not an ode to Bell Biv Devoe. I took Hope to work this morning because my babysitter is on vacation and Nonnie's flight didn't get in until 10am. While I was working on a project Hope busied herself with items in this office- markers, paper, index cards, and a little black plastic triangular dish that she found on the window sill. And here is where we ended up...

I discovered after about 30-45 min that the black dish was labeled POISON. The washU EMTs and environmental health mob showed up and insisted we take a trip next door to Children's ER even though I wasn't sure she had even ingested the poison-- better safe than sorry. Hopefully the 48 hour blood tests will be clear and all will be well. Hope was exhausted after the fiasco was over...

4 years

Beau and I got married 4 years ago today! We just celebrated with dinner at Brasserie which was delish!! Floating Island- one of the best desserts we have ever had, and trust me we are dessert experts. Beau and I have our ups and downs, but I will never know a man more suitable for me-- I have met my match, that's for sure.

This weekend's festivities

On Friday we had a work family picnic at Shaw Park. This park is amazing and super new-definitely going back! I was most impressed with the array of xylophones.

Hopie is getting a lesson from Kara...

Looking so big!!

On Saturday I walked in the kids bedroom to find Hope picking out books... all of them.

And, I decided it was time for Al to lose his locks. I must say I was near tears.
Before...

During...

After...

A better view...

On Sunday, we swam at the MAC in the late morning-Al can now jump off the diving board and swim to the side all by himself! (he has the puddle jumper on, of course)
That night I took the kids to Culinaria to grab some garlic for Father's Day dinner and I parked the stroller next to the tomatoes to go find the garlic. Next thing I know Hope swiped a Roma and ate the whole thing. Hilarious!

Albert

Albert's best friend from school, Raiden, taught him how to say "sweeeeet"! It brings me back to the 90's...

YouTube Video

On a different note, when Nonnie was in town she insisted on buying Al these cars cake molds... Williams Sonoma is doing a whole Cars line of products for the new movie. Tonight after Hopie went to sleep we made some Cars pumpkin bread... Delish!

Love it all.

I love my family, I love my friends, I love my job... I love it all right now.
The older the kids get, the more fun we have. I am a go-go-go person and babies make that hard. Now that Hopie is walking and almost over her morning nap I feel like I can do anything! The past couple weekends Beau has had to work a good deal of the time so I feel like the kids and I are a real bonded gang. We swim, play at the park, go for walks, play soccer in the alley, go to the zoo (to pet the stingrays which Al loves and hope is just happy to play in the water)--all free before 9am! I am feeling less overwhelmed and more at ease and so thankful for the weekends I get with them.

Tonight the kids are staying at grandmas house and I went to have margaritas with my girlfriends. I just love them so much and am so happy to have friends who know each other inside and out and have such similar thoughts and feelings about life... So refreshing! A couple of hours before we met up Beau took the kids out to the farm and after an hour at home by myself I was like "what the heck did I used to do with my free time?!" I was getting so antsy! Haha. Relaxation is not my forte.
And finally my job- I have learned so much about the psychology behind eating behaviors, it's incredible. I am challenged everyday and I love it! Cross your fingers for continued funding!!
And "that's For sure" (a new Al-ism)

Hope is finding her voice

Sassy pants-McGoo is what I like to call her. She now knows what she wants, but is not able to communicate (well through otherwise normal means such as talking) what she wants so her frustration erupts into a heated tantrum. This weekend was a record- 15 minutes long outside on the concrete floor as I sat idly by waiting for the storm to pass.

Despite these moments she is awfully cute. She loves to give kisses (open mouth, of course) and thinks her brother is hilarious. He is sick today and cried our in his sleep- Hope heard him and ran as fast as her little legs could carry her into the bedroom to make sure he was okay. So cute.

Her trademark smile.

She and great Granny at the lake..

Mother's Day...

A girl can't leave the house without her purse...

Her favorite cabinet, and thankfully the only one she is interested in!

I look forward to everyday I get to know her more!
