Lanterns

I meant to post this last week...

I took the babies to the botanical gardens for the Chinese Lantern festival on Friday night. I had a 50/50 chance of success or disaster going by myself, so I drafted Kara and baby Rose to go with us. It turned out so well. They LOVED the dragon that blew steam and the lit up lanterns were beautiful!

Beginning of summer 2012

No place like inside an excavator if you're a 3 year old boy who loves construction. When asked if he wants to own a construction company- Beau's always dreaming big- Al simply replies, no I'm going to be a "worker".



My college girlfriends get together every month for dinner. Love these nights- this one we decided it was time for another girls only lake trip!



My kids are eating impressively healthy this month, so I have to get pictures for later proof! The snap peas growing in our garden has sparked a new interest in this vegetable- I guess there is something about growing your own food that makes you want to eat it? And oddly enough they both love mint tea!



A rare picture together that actually turned out decent. If you haven't been there, you have to take your kids to Shaws Arboretum in Grays Summit.

2. Hopie can count to 9! Which is surprising bc 1 month ago she couldnt put 2 words together- Go Girl!
3. Al has to get his tonsils out. :(
Here he is at the ENT. Turns out he has sleep apnea! Looks like it... Haha.


This week I have taken up boxing but am powering through the pain day by day. I find the more I work my sore-a** muscles, the better they feel. I can finally turn my neck- things are looking up ;).

R&R- Cabo Style

While I have already tried and failed to post this blog entry 2 times and failed, third times a charm, right?
Beau and I went to Cabo last week for our first beach vacation since our honeymoon. It was fantastic.



The place is a desert, so the nights are cool and dry and the days are just hot enough to lay by the pool comfortably all day long.
I felt like I was back in college on spring break- drinking by the pool, after noon naps, late nights- zero worries.
That's beau in the middle of red zone waves- notice everyone else is sitting safely on the beach. (the waves were like 12 feet tall- no lie)









Had it not been for the kids I might have spiraled into a deep depression at the thought of leaving, but here I am 4 days post trip- surviving. :)

Swimming lessons

Albert is doing swimming lessons for the first time. He has been a couple of times with dad and puts up zero fight- with the intrigue of the locker room and hot tub at the MAC. But world war 3 broke out this morning when I took him- kicking and screaming, literally.
He is better now, and sissy is enthralled with the view.

Holy half-marathon

Well, I felt like I might never do another half-marathon... But apparently when your husband signs you up for a marathon relay race and one of your team members bails at the last minute, someone has to pick up the slack. 18 miles later (that includes the 5 miles of walking I did to get to and from the relay exchange stations) we actually finished! ...



Brittany was a trooper and ALSO did the extra leg of the race with me, so it wasn't so bad ;).
Next time maybe we will plan this out a little better... Beau!

Happiness is...?

...The question I am contemplating alot lately. I am always looking to plan for the future- the next moment, tomorrow, the next week, the effect on my children's psyche in the next 20 years. I can't turn it off, and I feel like I am in a wheel that will never stop turning and I am exhausted.
Stop. That's what I need to do. We only get one life and God has control over our future. I am happy for what God has given me right now and that is what I need to focus on. Otherwise, what else is there but worry and un-certainty in trying to control what I have no control over?
I am happy for being outside walking in this beautiful weather... Right now.
